Original lino prints on handcrafted papers
Hand carved and pressed original prints on hand crafted papers.
Made to whisper stories of connection, reciprocity and relationship while bringing some handmade earthy goodness into your home or work space.
This is where our textile designs begin, hand made with love.
Each print Dalee makes has deep connection to both her own process loving nature and the wild living world of nature. All is interconnected.
Her work is a physical and spiritual, visual and tactile conversation between us all - human, plant, animal, element, soil, space and story.
She creates to remind us that to foster reciprocity and relationship with the living growing world is the reconnection we need to move forward into a future where we remember our place in the great web of life. A remembering that she believes is at the core of the health of our bodies, minds, communities and mother earth.
The growing, gathering and observing of seasons and plants as food, medicine and colour is a big part of Dalee's connection and inspiration.
All of Dalees prints are carved into biodegradable silk cut lino using Swiss made Pfeil chisels. A deeply medititive and intricate process.
She then presses each print by hand using a glass barren. This process requires strength and focus .
Peeling back a fresh print of a newly carved block has got to be the definition of deep satisfaction as a printmaker. Apart from drying the print, the process is now complete.
Dalee Ella is an artist printmaker, illustrator and textile designer who works to create intricate lino prints for papers and fabrics. She handcrafts all her own paper from recycled waste products infused with homegrown and foraged botanicals and loves to work with Australian made organic cotton, linen and hemp fabrics.
Dalee's processes have evolved out of and reflect her land-based lifestyle. Featuring imagery that tells the stories and expresses the beauty of a slow paced, earth centered, handmade and homegrown reality.
For the past 11 years she has lived on a beautiful intentional community, on Bandjalang country in northern NSW Australia, with her husband and two boys where they continue to work together to build natural homes, educate outside of school and grow abundant food gardens.
Their deep connections to each other, the land they live on, the plants they grow and animals they care for are direct results of choosing to live a simple, DIY life, that allows the time flexibility and space to learn diverse skills and develop practices as artists and low impact contributors to the future.
It is directly from her earthy everyday experiences, living this chosen lifestyle, that Dalee draws most of her inspiration.
Dalee Ella holds a bachelor degree in fine art with a major in Printmaking from the Qld College of Art, Griffith University, Australia.
